Who is the guitar course for?
The course is aimed at children from 6 years old and adults. No prior knowledge is required.
During your guitar lessons in our course we will work on:
- Note reading: we will work on note reading.
- Rhythm: we go through rhythms, we clap and use the body to get an understanding and feeling of the more complex rhythms. Most of the mistakes you make as a musician are rhythmic, so it is important to learn to understand rhythm outside the instrument as well.
- Chords: during the guitar lesson into the harmony, how different pieces are structured, and how the harmony supports a well-structured interpretation of musical works.
- Aural skills and singing: together with the guitar teacher, you will work on singing and developing your ear. The important thing is not to sing well, but to be able to recognize the notes and match the notes you play on the instrument, with the voice. Then your ear will develop!
- Sound: learning to play the guitar means taking advantage of everything the instrument has to offer. That's why we work together to help you discover all the nuances of guitar sound. So not just weak or strong, but darker/brighter/thicker/brilliant etc. This is linked to a better guitar technique. In the end, technique can be defined as the control over the movements so that you always get the guitar to sound the way you want.
- Technique: in addition to sound, a guitarist is also an athlete. As a guitarist, you use your body to make music, and certain movements put more or less strain on your body. Therefore, we learn not only what note to play, but also how. We work intensively during the course to help you understand how sound and technique go hand in hand. Everyone can produce the "right" sound once, but to be able to do it every time is something you have to master.
At Malmö Musikskola we believe that continuity is crucial for success in music studies.
Unlike other subjects that are naturally used in everyday life, music requires regular practice and guidance, especially at the beginning of studies.
Therefore, we offer a planned study program of 40 lessons over a year, with 17 lessons taking place in the autumn semester and 17 in the spring semester. The remaining lessons are flexibly distributed, mostly during the summer.
Our approach provides students with a stable structure and the opportunity to progress continuously, while enjoying breaks in the summer, as well as during the fall, sports, Christmas and Easter holidays. This balance ensures that each student can progress and achieve their goals without losing touch with their studies for extended periods.
