Joshua Wat

Joshua Wat is a passionate and dedicated music teacher from Hong Kong, now based in Sweden. With a strong background in composition and performance, he strives to give his students a deep understanding of the beauty and complexity of music. Joshua has a broad experience in composing works for various ensembles and instruments, which gives him a unique ability to guide his students through the many nuances of music.
Joshua has an extensive education in music composition, with a Master's degree from the School of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, where he also received prestigious scholarships from the Stena Foundation and the Otto and Charlotte Mannheimer Foundation. His studies at Hong Kong Baptist University gave him a solid foundation in music composition, and he has learned from prominent composers such as Malin Bång, Ole Lützow-Holm, Alain Chiu Long Tin and many more.
Joshua has a great ability to inspire and motivate his students with his infectious enthusiasm and deep musical knowledge. His lessons are structured to develop both technical skill and musical understanding. Joshua teaches piano, violin, viola and composition, and he adapts his methods to meet each student's individual needs and goals. He believes in creating a supportive and creative environment where students can explore their musicality and reach new heights.
Joshua also has a strong background in performance, with experience as principal violist of the Collegium Musicum Hong Kong and the HKBU Symphony Orchestra. This experience makes him particularly well-suited to prepare students for both solo and ensemble performances. He teaches in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, making him accessible to a wide range of students.
