Eskil Roos

Jazz piano

Eskil Roos is a dedicated pianist and composer with an extensive education and experience in music. He has studied at St. Sigfrid's Folk High School, the Estonian Academy of Music and Arts under the tutelage of Kristjan Randalu, and the Malmö Academy of Music where he was guided by the renowned pianist Jan Lundgren. Jan Lundgren describes Eskil's playing as "unusually emotionally mature", and predicts a promising future for him in the music world.

Eskil has done a deep dive into Nordic jazz, a subject that he immersed himself in during his bachelor's thesis and which he is now further exploring in his master's thesis through a book on Nordic and modern jazz piano. His musical practice is characterized by a strong foundation in improvisation, jazz piano, rhythm, composition and methodology. He has also received several prestigious scholarships, including the Lund Cultural Scholarship, the Royal Academy of Music Local Scholarship, the Lions Club Cultural Scholarship and the Rotary Club Music Scholarship.

As a pianist, Eskil has played in several bands, both his own and others, and he has also worked as a pianist in a choir. He has a wide experience in teaching and has helped his private students to get into music education programs, including folk high schools. Eskil places great emphasis on helping his students find their passion for music. He strives to challenge his students, so that they feel they are developing and getting something to bite into.

He is skilled at teaching how to play songs by ear and how to build a strong foundation in chord progressions and rhythm.
