Children's choir at Malmö Music School
Do your children want to learn to sing?
Starting to sing in a choir as a child is a great way to be introduced to the world of music. Learning to manage your singing voice at an early age lays a good musical foundation that will also benefit you if you later want to learn to play another instrument. You also learn what it is like to create something together and collaborate in a group. It can also be a fun way to meet new friends.
In our children's choir course we welcome children between 5-7 years. We explore the instrument of the voice together and work with exciting and catchy songs in different styles. We will learn both traditional children's songs such as songs by Astrid Lindgren, as well as newer songs. During the lessons we explore the world of music together using the following:
Rhythm - We will work with rhythm in a playful way and practice finding the pulse and moving in time to the music.
Dynamics - We will explore different dynamic differences such as singing loudly or softly.
Music theory - you will be introduced to a few simple areas of music theory such as different note values and time signatures. These are building blocks that you need to have in order to learn to read music in the future. We will do this by working with fun rhythm exercises.
Movements - We will work a lot with movements in the course. Movement can be a very good tool for learning new lyrics so we will work with movement in some of the songs we learn.
